The 2025 China-South Korea Cold Region Heat Pump Technology Seminar Successfully Held at Harbin Institute of Technology

From February 3 to 5, 2025, The “2025 China-Korea Cold Climate Heat Pump Technology Symposium”, guided by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology and hosted by the School of Energy Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), was successfully held in Harbin. The symposium was chaired by Professor Wu Jian, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department and Director of the International Project Management Center at HIT.

The symposium focused on key topics including Innovations in cryogenic heat pump technology, Testing and technical challenges under cold environmental conditions, China-Korea cooperation in promoting regional energy transitions, international testing standards, and the commercialization of research outcomes. Distinguished participants included Mr. Sim Won Chin, President of the Air Conditioning Research Institute at LG Electronics (Korea), Professor Yong Tae Kang of Korea University, Academician of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, Professor Min Soo Kim of Seoul National University, Academician of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and President of the International Institute of Refrigeration, Professor Yongchan Kim of Korea University, Academician of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and President of the Society of Air-Conditioning and Refrigerating Engineers of Korea, Professor Minsung Kim of Chung-Ang University and Vice Chair of the Air Conditioning Commission of the International Institute of Refrigeration, Professor Hoseong Lee of Korea University, and Professor Young Soo Chang of Kookmin University. From HIT, Professor Shen Chao, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department and Professor at the School of Architecture and Design, and Professor Han Lei, Special Assistant to the Dean of the School of Energy Science and Engineering, also attended the symposium.

After the symposium, participants visited the HIT-LG Cold Climate Heat Pump Laboratory. They conducted in-depth exchanges on the heat pump systems under test and the testing procedures.
