2026 China–Korea Heat Pump Technology Workshop Held in Shanghai

2026-11-04 10

On October 14, 2026, the “2026 China–Korea Heat Pump Technology Workshop ” was held in Shanghai as one of the special sessions of the 2026 China International Heat Pump Conference. The event was organized by Professor Wu Jian’s team from our school. More than 20 experts, scholars, researchers, and graduate students from Chinese and Korean universities and companies attended, including Professor Wang Ruzhu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Associate Professor Song Yulong from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Mr. Byung-Soo Song, Program Manager of the Open Innovation Team at LG Electronics Eco Solution.

The work featured three parts: research progress reports, open technical discussion, and future China–Korea heat pump cooperation. Topics included heat pump applications in cold regions, industrial high-temperature heat pumps, large temperature-lift heat pump cycles, and low-carbon heating and cooling technologies. Associate Researcher Zheng Zhiying from our school chaired the meeting.

In the research progress reports session, teams presented work on heat pump applications in cold regions, the annual comprehensive performance of CO2 commercial air-conditioning and its industrial high-temperature heat pump applications, coupling strategies and experimental studies of large-temperature-lift composite heat pump cycles, and heat-pump-based low-carbon heating and cooling technologies. The reports covered heat pump cycle design, system performance, and heating and cooling applications, showcasing the teams’ recent research progress.

The open technical discussion covered trends in heat pump applications and market development in China, ultra-high-temperature CO2 heat pump technology for industrial heat supply at temperatures above 300°C, and a high-efficiency steam-generating heat pump system utilizing a district heating network with a large temperature glide. These discussions further broadened the scope of the meeting to include industrial heat supply, high-temperature thermal energy utilization, and steam generation technologies.
