Message from the President

We sincerely welcome you to the School of Energy Science and Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology and look forward to your arrival. The school always adheres to the motto of HIT, that is, “being strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in educating students.” It has also developed its own traditions and strengths in continuous academic exploration and practice, which are to cultivate students’ abilities in engineering practice and team work and patriotic dedication against an engineering background. The school focuses on the integration of scientific and humanistic education and persists in the harmonious development of scientific and technological innovation and social services to vigorously promote the internationalized process of talent training. Postgraduate education of the school embraces a general orientation towards the education of talents with research skills and mindset, which is also combined with engineering-oriented and application-oriented talent training. In the meanwhile, it also aims to adhere to the principle of “liveliness and active development” with an emphasis on self-study, ability and creativity. The faculty of the school includes two academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering who are widely respected for meticulous scholarship and remarkable scientific attainments, three winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, two Chang Jiang Scholars, one expert of the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), and eight professors included in the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in Ministry of Education, with many middle-aged academic leaders rich in spirit of innovation and standing at academic frontiers and still more outstanding and energetic young teachers.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. The students of the School of Energy Science and Engineering will be excellent graduates whose wisdom and versatility meets the demands of the new century.
