On April 1, 2022, the School of Energy Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) held an online meeting with the Institute of Chemical Physics Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences to discuss cooperation on scientific research projects. The meeting was attended by 14 participants, including Dean Gao Jianmin, Professor Zhou Weixing, and Professor Du Qian from HIT, as well as Academician Yanovsky, Professor Martinienko, and Professor Kolobov from the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Chaired by Academician Yanovsky, the meeting began with Dean Gao Jianmin introducing various collaborative funding opportunities, including the 2022 NSFC-RSF Joint Research Program, the Intergovernmental International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Key Project, and HIT’s Industry-Academia Collaboration platforms. Focusing on global “Carbon Neutrality” goals, both parties conducted in-depth discussions across multiple domains, from fundamental applied research to cutting-edge technology development and practical applications. Key topics included Low-carbon hydrogen production from natural gas, Low-carbon synthesis gas production, Coking of hydrocarbon fuels, and Ultra-superadiabatic solid waste gasification. The meeting successfully identified joint research directions for project proposals and established a clear action plan with specific timelines for follow-up collaboration.
This meeting marked the first working session under the 2022 China-Russia “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory for Advanced Energy and Power Technologies. Guided by the principles of “co-construction and sharing, demand-oriented, capacity building, and demonstration leadership”, the joint laboratory will continue to focus on five major tasks in the field of advanced energy and power systems such as Joint research programs, Academic exchanges, International technology transfer, Talent development and training, and Institutional innovation mechanisms. The ultimate goal is to establish a model platform for scientific and technological cooperation between China and Russia at the national level in the field of advanced energy and power systems.
