The Third Summer School of Sino-EU Doctoral School for Sustainability Engineering is Held at HIT
From August 30th to September 1st, the third Summer School of Sino-EU Doctoral School for Sustainability Engineering was held at HIT, which was undertaken by the International Office and the School of Energy Science and Engineering. More than 40 people including the experts, teachers and PhD. candidates representatives from the institutes such as HIT, Tongji University, University of Karlsruhe (Germany), Portugal University Institute (Portugal), FAW Group, and Infineon Technologies Ltd. participated in this summer school.
At 8 a.m. on August 30th, the grand opening ceremony was held in the Power Building. Fan Hongpo, the Administrative Vice Minister of the International Cooperation Department of HIT, Zhao Guangbo, the President of the School of Energy Science and Engineering, Li Liguang, the Vice President of the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering at Tongji University as well as all the people participating in the summer school attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Shuai Yong, the Vice President of the School of Energy Science and Engineering.
At the opening ceremony, Director Fan Hongbo, on behalf of the university, firstly extended warm welcome to all the campers and hoped that everyone could conduct full exchanges and communication to promote further development of relevant specialties during the summer school. President Zhao Guangbo made a speech, in which he introduced the development situation of the school, warmly welcomed all the experts, scholars and PhD. students in professional fields to carry out in-depth exchanges and wished the summer school a success. Subsequently, Professor Jurgen·Baker from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology of Germany and Li Liguang, the Vice President of Tongji University delivered speeches respectively, in which they introduced the basic information of related specialties in their own universities and looked forward to sufficient exchanges of school culture and professional fields during the summer school.
From August 30th to September 1st, the members of the summer school attended academic activities, including professional academic reports and laboratory visits to carry out in-depth academic exchanges. During the summer school, they also visited the Museum and Space Museum of HIT and participated in the traditional Chinese cultural exchanges, thus enhancing the understanding of the members to the related specialties and campus and traditional culture of our university. On September 1st, the closing ceremony was held on the third floor at the Xiyuan Restaurant of HIT. Tian Zhenhui, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Energy Science and Engineering, attended the ceremony and gave a speech, in which he highly appreciated the good results of this summer school and sincerely invited all the members to often come to school for exchanges.
The Sino-EU Doctoral School for Sustainability Engineering (SESE) was launched on September 2012 by four universities including HIT, Tongji University, University of Karlsruhe (Germany), and Portugal Polytech Institute (Portugal), aiming at developing extensive and deep cooperation between the four universities in such aspects as joint cultivation of talents, teacher training, development of teaching materials, and scientific researches in machinery, energy, transportation and other fields to work together to cultivate high-quality senior engineering talents and promote the mutual recognition of Sino-EU engineering education specialties. The Summer School of Sino-EU Doctoral School for Sustainability Engineering is held once a year, which is undertaken in turn by the four universities.
