Institute of Industrial Electronic Technology was established in 1994, with Professor Wang Qingchao (Doctoral Supervisor) as Director. It mainly engages in the engineering application and theoretical study of large-scale chemical process machinery automation devices, whose research results are in domestic leading position. Over the past 20 years, more than 10 major chemical automation engineering projects and several research projects, such as the National Natural Science Fund projects, have been completed. The Institute has won two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (in 2001 & 2004), the third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (in 1997), Governor’s Special Award of Heilongjiang Province (in 1997), Major scientific and technological Efficiency Award of Heilongjiang Province (in 2001), and more than 20 provincial and ministerial awards. Its results have been widely applied in many backbone enterprises of China National Petroleum Corporation and China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, which have achieved good results and significant benefits.

Main research directions of the Institute: chemical processes automation devices, field bus system, distributed control system, and application of intelligent control technology.

The Institute has ten full-time and part-time senior technical staff, two professors (one doctoral supervisor), six associate professors and senior engineers.It can enroll doctoral and graduate students in the chemical process machinery discipline. More than 10 doctoral students and more than 100 graduate students have been cultivated.
