MSCA-IF is part of the H2020 European research programme and its goal is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers, wishing to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. Thus, this programme offers to researchers worldwide the possibility to continue their research. Researchers who are in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience are eligible for the application of the programme. The MSCA-IF is famous for its fierce competition and high budget. It is reported that for the 2018-2019 calls, only about 110 projects were funded in the ST-ENG portal worldwide.

Funded by this fellowship (about 225 thousand Euros), Dr. Yatao Ren will collaborate with Prof. Yuying YAN, Chair in Thermofluids Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, for two years. The grant provides an allowance to cover living, travel and family costs. In addition, the EU contributes to the training, networking and research costs of the fellow, as well as to the management and indirect costs of the project.

Dr. Ren is now a member of Prof. Hong Qi’s lab, Key Laboratory of Aerospace Thermophysics, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, School of Energy Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology. The successful funding of this project is also an important outcome of the internationalization of our university.
