Korean LG Electronics Delegation Visits School of Energy Science and Engineering to Advance Cold-Climate Heat Pump Cooperation

Recently, a three-member delegation from LG Electronics' Eco Solutions (ES) company, including Executive Vice President Saikee Oh and ES Advanced Research Leader Sang Hun Lee, visited the School of Energy Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) for academic exchanges and cooperation discussions. Professor Wu Jian from HIT's School of Energy Science and Engineering, who serves as the Chinese lead for the jointly established Cold-Climate Heat Pump Joint Laboratory, accompanied the delegation and participated in the discussions.

The delegation conducted on-site inspections at two test bases of the Cold-Climate Heat Pump Laboratory located in Mohe City and Harbin City, gaining in-depth understanding of the units' operational performance and data collection under extreme cold weather conditions. During the visit to Mohe, the Mohe Municipal People’s Government provided strong support. Deputy Mayor Fan Pengtao warmly received the delegation and held discussions on the application of clean energy technologies in extremely cold regions and institute-local government collaboration. During their time in Harbin, the delegation visited the Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Micro-Nano Flow and Heat Transfer and the Center for Cold-Region Building Science and Engineering. They engaged in in-depth exchanges with the research team, including Professor Wu Jian and Associate Professor Zheng Zhiying, on topics such as heat pump technology in cold regions and AI+ heat pumps.

Both parties systematically aligned and advanced the deployment of key tasks and technical roadmaps for the next phase of joint research on cold-climate heat pumps, as well as the new annual work plan for the LG Electronics-China Advanced Heat Pump Committee. This visit further solidified the strategic cooperative relationship between LG Electronics and HIT in the field of cold-climate heat pumps, laying a solid foundation for the engineering application and international development of related technologies.
