The Energy and Power Engineering Major offers training in two key areas: Carbon Neutral Energy and Thermal Science and Intelligent Power and Automation.
Carbon Neutral Energy and Thermal Science Module: This module mainly focuses on the release, conversion, and transfer of thermal energy, as well as efficient and clean utilization. It covers carbon-neutral energy technologies, space photothermal environment control, thermal analysis of electronic devices, heat exchanger design, air conditioning, etc. to carry out talent training. This direction is widely applied in fields such as energy, aerospace, aviation, automotive, petrochemicals, food and pharmaceutical production, and medical and refrigeration equipment manufacturing.
Intelligent Power and Automation Module: This module mainly focuses on the principles, intelligent design, and control of energy conversion equipment. It serves sectors including aviation, aerospace, marine and submarine propulsion, hydropower, petrochemicals, engineering machinery, medical equipment, and naval armaments. It covers the design, development, operation, fault diagnosis, and automatic control of various propulsion and power systems, including aircraft engines, gas turbines, rocket engines, satellite thrusters, steam turbines, compressors, fans, and hydraulic turbines.
Aircraft power systems are the heart of aviation and aerospace vehicles, representing the most critical components. The development level of aircraft engines is a key indicator of a nation's industrial foundation and technological strength.
This major primarily focuses on the theory and technology of aviation and aerospace propulsion, aiming to cultivate senior engineering talents capable of research, design, experimentation, development, and management in thermal power-related fields within aviation, aerospace, transportation, energy, environment, and other related areas. Through systematic learning, students will acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, engineering mechanics, and mechanical principles, as well as specialized knowledge in aerodynamics, engineering thermodynamics, solid mechanics, automatic control, computer applications, and the principles and structural strength of aircraft power systems. This program is affiliated with the Power Machinery and Engineering discipline, which offers Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Graduates typically pursue careers in: Aviation engine development, design, and production departments, Aerospace engine development, design, and production departments, Naval gas turbine development, design, and production departments, and Civil gas turbine development and production, etc.
This major cultivates scientific and technological talents with a strong knowledge base in nuclear engineering, nuclear technology, and engineering thermophysics. Graduates are equipped to engage in research, design, manufacturing, operation, application, and management in nuclear-related fields while fostering innovation and international perspective. Graduates can pursue careers in government agencies, military organizations, the nuclear power industry, and nuclear technology-related enterprises, as well as research and design institutes, nuclear power plants, and universities. The major is part of the Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics discipline, which grants Doctoral degrees and hosts a Postdoctoral research station. It maintains close academic exchanges and collaborations with prestigious universities and research institutions in over a dozen countries and regions.
This major aligns with China’s national energy strategy and the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, addressing the storage needs of both traditional and new energy utilization. It provides students with a solid theoretical foundation in energy storage technologies, covering topics such as energy storage, chemical energy storage, and space energy storage. The program develops highly skilled and innovative professionals with a strong foundation, broad expertise, and practical capabilities in scientific research, engineering design, technological development, and production management in the fields of national strategic emerging industries such as energy storage, new energy, distributed energy, and energy conservation & environmental protection. Graduates of this major can engage in energy storage-related research and development, engineering design, production and processing, equipment operation, technology management, and quality control in the fields of national strategic emerging industries, including energy, power, environment, automotive, chemical, and new energy fields.
