The School of Energy Science and Engineering is committed to serving major national needs in the energy and power fields. With a strong foundation in national defense disciplines, the school emphasizes interdisciplinary integration and industry-education collaboration. Building on its traditional strengths in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics along with the newly established discipline of Carbon Neutrality Science and Engineering, the school aims to cultivate internationally competitive, versatile talents.

The school offers a variety of graduate programs, including Academic Master's, Professional Master's, Joint Dual-degree Master's, Academic Doctoral, Professional Doctoral, and Joint Doctoral programs. Each year, it enrolls approximately 200 Master's students and 140 Doctoral students, offering nearly 60 graduate courses, including 3 jointly developed with internationally renowned scholars.

The graduate education at the School of Energy Science and Engineering is characterized by strong Industry-Education integration. It operates over ten industry-education platforms, including teaching bases and experimental teaching centers. In recent years, the School of Energy Science and Engineering has led the establishment of the National Energy Storage Technology Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform. It has also co-founded the Cold Region Electrochemical Energy Storage and Carbon Neutrality Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education with the School of Chemical Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering, as well as a collaborative education base with Harbin Electric Corporation（HEC）to build a high-efficiency low-carbon power equipment Talent Training, aiming to cultivate top-tier engineers.

The school actively expands its Russia-focused cooperation, offering multiple international joint training pathways for graduate students. Key initiatives include a joint master's training agreement on “Aircraft Engines” with the Moscow Aviation Institute（MAI）, and being approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) International Cooperation Training Project for Innovative Talents Innovative Talent Training and Exchange in Advanced Power and Energy, and the NSFC International Cooperation Training Project “International Cooperation Training in Advanced Energy and Power Technologies” to promote international cooperation with Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
